China

GEMS students visited the High School attached to Northwest Normal University, one of our sister schools in Lanzhou, China. They followed the Chinese students through their daily schedules, and took unique classes such as calligraphy and facemask painting. They also had wonderful homestay experiences, and took the opportunity to practice their Chinese while creating lasting memories with their host families. Lastly, the students climbed the Five Spring Mountain, a perfect viewpoint to admire the beauty of Lanzhou and the Yellow River. The Yellow River, also known to the Chinese as the Mother River, is one of two major rivers in China and has been an important aspect of Chinese culture for centuries. The next stop was Beijing, the capital and heart of China. There, students climbed the Great Wall, a vastly important piece of Chinese history that everyone was very lucky to have experienced. All in all, the trip was a great success and everyone learned something new about Chinese history and culture.
