Welcome to GEMS

Principal’s Message

December 2020

Dear Students and Families,

We are nearly halfway through the 2020-2021 school year and I could not be more proud. Our teachers, families, and students have all been exceptionally flexible through the many changes that have been necessary this year. Our teachers and students together have learned new technologies and have worked hard to continue the teaching and learning taking place in our new setting. The adaptability and perseverance of everyone involved is nothing short of inspiring.

GEMS teachers and staff remain committed to the safety of our students and families. Whether our students are with us in the building in our hybrid learning model or remaining at home fulltime for distance learning, our first efforts are to the safety of our students and families. We continue to work closely with the local health district ensuring that we are following the latest health and safety protocols. We are grateful to our families as they keep their children home when they are not feeling well and as they continue to report these illness so that we can track the health of our community. These measures are sure to keep us all safe.

GEMS teachers and staff continue to work tirelessly to deliver high quality instruction whether we are in a hybrid or fully distance learning environment so that our students receive a meaningful education. Our goal remains to develop students that are life-long learners who are prepared for the challenges that they will encounter tomorrow.

Your time with us here at GEMS is short; make the most of your time with us to learn and to grow as we help prepare you for your future. Set goals for your learning so that you are ready for college and/or your career beyond your time at GEMS. Seek help from your teachers, school counselors, and other support staff; we are all here to help you be your best. We encourage our students and families to take advantage of the extra-curricular clubs and activities to engage with their teachers in new ways and get to know other GEMS students. For our students in search of additional academic challenges, take advantage of the opportunity to study at the college level through one of our college partnerships. Continue to challenge yourself even in these extraordinary times.

We have much to be grateful for as we close out the calendar year. We are especially grateful for the trust that you have put in us as we work with your child. Know that you can always reach out to us as partners in your child's education. Be safe and be well!
